Biggest Wish Birthday Card

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted a tutorial, have been pretty hectic with uni and work so sadly, have had very little time for crafting!  Finally got a little time in at the end of semester and created this card for the tutorial swap I am a part of.  The theme for the month was birthdays and, being short on time, I went with a design that is quick and easy to create and can easily be changed to incorporate different colours and different Designer Series Papers.

Supplies:

• Stamp Set(s):

Biggest Wish (155052)

• Card Stock:

Poppy Parade (121694)

Basic White (159228)

• Designer Series Paper:

Pattern Party DSP (155426 – hostess)

• Stamp Pad(s) and Ink(s):

Poppy Parade (147050)

Flirty Flamingo (147052)

• Dies and Embossing Folder(s):

Tailor Made Tags Dies (largest straight edged tag) (155563)

Basic Borders Dies (155558)

• Embellishments:

Red Rhinestones (146924)

Flirty Flamingo Gold Metallic Ribbon (155610)

• Tools:

Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Tear & Tape (154031)

Glue Dots (103683)

Measurements:

  • Poppy Parade 14.8cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm (card base)
  • Basic White 14.3cm x 10cm (insert)
  • Scrap of Basic White (large enough to cut largest tag die)
  • Pattern Party DSP (2 pieces) 10cm x 4.5cm

Instructions:

1. Take the scrap piece of Basic White and die cut the largest of the straight edge tag dies.

2. Stamp the solid ‘BIRTHDAY’ sentiment in Poppy Parade, towards the right end of the tag. Then stamp ‘happy’ in Flirty Flamingo, positioning the stamp so that it is above and to the left of ‘BIRTHDAY’ (see pic below for indication of placement). Alternatively, you can stamp first and then die cut.

3. Take one of the DSP pieces and position the inverted V shaped die so that the tip lines up with the edge of the centre (5cm mark) of the 10cm side of the DSP. Use grid paper to help position the die to ensure that the sides are even.  Use washi or repositionable tape to hold the die in place, ensuring the tape is adhered to the section of DSP that will be cut away, to avoid damaging the DSP when it is removed (see pic below).  Then repeat with the second piece of DSP.

4. Adhere Basic White insert piece to the inside of your card base.

5. Adhere the two pieces of DSP to the front of your card base, one at the top, the other at the bottom, both with the point of the DSP directed towards the middle of the card.

6. Adhere the stamped tag to the centre of the card base, in between the two pieces of DSP.

7. Tie a small bow with the Flirty Flamingo Gold Metallic ribbon and adhere to the end of the tag using glue dots.

8. Place a red rhinestone on the point of each piece of DSP, then place 5 red rhinestones in various locations on the tag.

I’d love to see what you come up with using this design with different DSPs and different colour cardstock.  You can see all the products used below and if there are any you need, just click on the image to be taken to my online store.

DSP Design 1:  2.3cm X 11.3cm (2 pieces) plus 2.3cm X 13.8cm (1 piece)

DSP Design 2: 8.8cm X 11.3cm

Basic White: 13.5cm X 11cm (card insert), plus 2.5cm wide strip (for sentiment – adjust length depending on desired sentiment), plus 8cm X 8cm (for stamping images)

Soft Succulent: 1” wide strip (slightly longer than Basic White strip)

scrap pieces of Smoky Slate, Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent

Instructions:

• Cut and score card base as per diagram.  Score a 2.5cm long line at 2.5cm, 5cm and 16.5cm on both sides of the cardstock (long side).  Make a cut from the 2.5cm score line down to the 16.5cm score line on both sides. At 14cm (long side), score a line between the two cut lines.

• Stamp the cloche image in Smoky Slate ink. Stamp the first layer of the house scene stamps in Smoky Slate ink inside the Cloche image.

• Stamp the top house scene layer on top of the Smoky Slate image, in Versamark.  Cover with white embossing powder, remove the excess and heat emboss.

• Die cut cloche.  Using scrap pieces, die cut small trees from Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent cardstock, cloche base (thin rectangular piece) in smoky slate, decorative base top in Basic White and rolling hills piece in Basic White.

• Glue cloche base piece to decorative top and attach to cloche.  Add rolling hills and trees to cloche scene.

• Stamp sentiment on 1” strip of Basic White and punch ends with Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.  Punch ends of Soft Succulent strip. Attach Basic White piece to Soft Succulent piece.

• Attach Basic White insert piece to inside of card base.

• Attach DSP to front of card base.  The two shorter DSP strips attach to the sides.  The longer strip attaches to the bottom of the card front.  The largest DSP piece attaches to the centre panel.

• Place Dimensionals on back of sentiment piece, attach to front of card.

• Place Tear & Tape on back of cloche then attach to front of card.

Don’t forget, during Sale-A-Bration you receive free items from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for every $90 you spend, PLUS I am donating ALL commission received to JDRF Australia as part of the JDRF One Ride.
