Classic Cloche Centre Step Card

Today’s tutorial is one I created for the Silver to Silver Elite tutorial swap group.  I used the Classic Cloche stamp set and Tidings of Christmas DSP to create a centre step card.

Stamp Pads and Inks:

Evening Evergreen (155576)

Smoky Slate (147113)

Versamark (102283)

Dies:

Cloche Dies (156386)

Tools:

Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

Heat Tool (129056)

White Embossing Powder (155554)

Lovely Labels Pick A Punch (152883)

Paper Trimmer (152392)

Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Tear & Tape (138995)

Measurements:

Evening Evergreen: 14cm x 28cm (card base)

DSP Design 1:  2.3cm X 11.3cm (2 pieces) plus 2.3cm X 13.8cm (1 piece)

DSP Design 2: 8.8cm X 11.3cm

Basic White: 13.5cm X 11cm (card insert), plus 2.5cm wide strip (for sentiment – adjust length depending on desired sentiment), plus 8cm X 8cm (for stamping images)

Soft Succulent: 1” wide strip (slightly longer than Basic White strip)

scrap pieces of Smoky Slate, Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent

Instructions:

• Cut and score card base as per diagram.  Score a 2.5cm long line at 2.5cm, 5cm and 16.5cm on both sides of the cardstock (long side).  Make a cut from the 2.5cm score line down to the 16.5cm score line on both sides. At 14cm (long side), score a line between the two cut lines.

• Stamp the cloche image in Smoky Slate ink. Stamp the first layer of the house scene stamps in Smoky Slate ink inside the Cloche image.

• Stamp the top house scene layer on top of the Smoky Slate image, in Versamark.  Cover with white embossing powder, remove the excess and heat emboss.

• Die cut cloche.  Using scrap pieces, die cut small trees from Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent cardstock, cloche base (thin rectangular piece) in smoky slate, decorative base top in Basic White and rolling hills piece in Basic White.

• Glue cloche base piece to decorative top and attach to cloche.  Add rolling hills and trees to cloche scene.

• Stamp sentiment on 1” strip of Basic White and punch ends with Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.  Punch ends of Soft Succulent strip. Attach Basic White piece to Soft Succulent piece.

• Attach Basic White insert piece to inside of card base.

• Attach DSP to front of card base.  The two shorter DSP strips attach to the sides.  The longer strip attaches to the bottom of the card front.  The largest DSP piece attaches to the centre panel.

• Place Dimensionals on back of sentiment piece, attach to front of card.

• Place Tear & Tape on back of cloche then attach to front of card.

This card is nowhere near as complicated as it may look and you can easily add extra embellishments. Don’t forget, during Sale-A-Bration you receive free items from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for every $90 you spend, PLUS I am donating ALL commission received to JDRF Australia as part of the JDRF One Ride.

Penguin Place Floating Strips

I absolutely love the Penguin Place stamp set from the Jul-Dec Mini Catalogue, plus the coordinating Penguin Playmates DSP from the current Sale-A-Bration offering.  So today I have another card (or three!) made using this stamp set and the coordinating DSP.  This card uses the floating strips technique, which uses acetate to give the appearance of the DSP “floating” above the card.  This is a really easy but effective technique and is great for using up your scraps of cardstock and DSP.

I made three cards using the same technique, two with diagonal strips, one with horizontal strips.  This is a quick and easy card, all that is required is stamps, ink, paper and acetate!  The Penguin Playmates is available as a Sale-A-Bration reward when you spend $90 or more in my online store (don’t forget to use the Host Code if you’re ordering under $250).

Party Puffins Reverse Aperture Tutorial

Hello!  Apologies for the lack of posts recently, have been a bit hectic with uni assignments taking up most of my time! Today I have a fun fold tutorial for you, a reverse aperture card featuring the Party Puffins stamp set.

Supplies:

Stamp Set(s): Party Puffins (155054)

Card Stock: Pool Party A4 (124391), Basic White A4 (159228)

Designer Series Paper: Pattern Party DSP (Hostess Reward – 155426)

Stamp Pad(s) and Ink(s): Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (132708)

Dies and Embossing Folder(s): Picture This Dies (155559)

Embellishments:

Tools: Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine (149653), Stamparatus (148187), Stampin’ Write Markers (your choice of colours), Banners Pick A Punch (153608 optional), Tear & Tape Adhesive (154031)

Measurements:

  • Pool Party 14.8cm x 21cm
  • Basic White 14.3cm x 20cm
  • DSP 14.3cm x 10cm
  • scrap pieces of Basic White (approx. 1/2” wide strips) and Pool Party (approx. 5/8” wide strips)
  • scrap piece of paper or cardstock 14.3cm x 10cm

Instructions:

  1. Score the Pool Party cardstock piece at 10.5cm on the long side to create your card base.
  2. Score the Basic White cardstock piece at 10cm on the long side to create the inner card base.
  3. Adhere the DSP to the front of the Pool Party card base but only place adhesive around the edges.
  4. Place the circles die from the Picture This dies on your Pool Party/DSP card front in your preferred position. Run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

N.B. You will need to run through 2-3 times to ensure it cuts through both layers.

  1. To help make it easier to line up the images you’re going to stamp, take the scrap piece of paper/cardstock and line up with the DSP, then line up the die. Run the scrap piece & die through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. This is your template to help line up the images.
  2. Place the template in the Stamparatus and line up the stamps as desired. Lower the plate onto the stamps to adhere. Remove the template and place the LEFT SIDE of the Basic White cardstock into the Stamparatus (i.e. the opposite side that you would normally make the front of your card base.)

  1. Ink up the stamps using your Memento Ink and stamp. If any images did not stamp clearly, just reink and stamp again.

  1. On the inside of the Basic White card base (remember that the card opens in reverse, so the score line is on the RIGHT side of where you’re stamping), stamp your preferred sentiment using Memento Ink.

  1. Colour the images using your choice of Stampin’ Write Markers. (I used Pale Papaya, Poppy Parade, Misty Moonlight, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green).
  2. Stamp the Happy Birthday and Make A Wish sentiments on scraps pieces of Basic White cardstock and trim to required size. Use the Banners Pick A Punch on one end of the sentiment (or use paper snips)
  3. Trim the Pool Party scraps so they’re slightly bigger than the sentiment pieces then punch one end with the Banners Pick A Punch (or use paper snips).
  4. Adhere the sentiments to the Pool Party pieces

  1. Place Tear & Tape Adhesive on the FRONT RIGHT side of the Basic White card base, then adhere to the inside of the Pool Party card base.

N.B. Remember that the score line of the Basic White card base does not line up with the edge of the Pool Party card base – line it up as though adhering a typical card mat or insert.

  1. Fold along score line of Basic White base to close inner card, then fold along score line of Pool Party base to close outer card.
  2. Place Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the sentiment pieces, then adhere to the front of the card – Happy Birthday in the top right, Make A Wish in the bottom left.
