Snowy Pinecone with the Frosted Pinecone Bundle

Hi friends!

For the first card from this week’s Online Class to Go, I’ve gone all in on the frosty look with the Frosted Pinecone Bundle, making the most of the masks that coordinate with this set (and are part of the bundle) – they are so much fun to work with!.

The large pinecone is definitely the feature of this card. I’ve used Early Espresso for the pinecone itself, then used Pecan Pie and Mossy Meadow with the masks, finishing off with some Versamark and white embossing powder to create the look of freshly fallen snow sitting across the individual sections, including the pine branches.

I added some additional die cut pine branches, overlapping behind the pinecone to create additional depth and texture.

For the background, I kept things fairly neutral and added an embossed panel for texture. This gives the card some extra detail and texture without competing with the large pinecone arrangement.

I placed the sentiment towards the top of the card so it becomes part of the arrangement rather than covering any of the pinecone detail.

A strip of Mossy Meadow and Very Vanilla gingham ribbon across the bottom and a few embellishments finish everything off.

This card has quite a bit of detail, but it’s really a matter of building up the different elements one layer at a time. Once the pinecone and branches are prepared, the rest comes together quite easily.

Stitched Stocking Card

The final card in this week’s Online Class to Go takes the Stitched Stocking Bundle in another completely different direction.

There isn’t a stocking anywhere on this one!

Instead, I used the dies and A Stitched Season DSP to create a card with a patchwork feel. There’s quite a lot to look at, but breaking the design into horizontal sections helps keep everything organised.

The centre section starts with a patchwork-style background made from a strip of DSP. The little bird in the middle immediately caught my eye, so I positioned the pieces to make that section a feature rather than covering it up.

Above and below the DSP are rows of die-cut Christmas shapes. The Real Red sections have a repeating poinsettia-style design, while the Old Olive borders feature a row of little Christmas trees.

I really like how the white showing through the die-cut openings creates the pattern. It gives you lots of detail without having to add lots of individual pieces.

For the sentiment, I used the large stitched label die cut. A little holly, ribbon and a few sparkly details finish the centre section.

There are several patterns and elements on this card, but the repeated Real Red, Old Olive and white colour scheme helps bring everything together. It’s also a fun design for using up smaller pieces of DSP and cardstock.

Embossed Stitched Stocking Card

For the second card in this week’s Online Class to Go, the stocking from the Stitched Stocking Bundle gets to be the star of the card.

The Real Red (two-tone) stocking is embossed with the Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folder, then lightly sanded to reveal some of the white core, and the Shimmering Stripes Specialty Paper for the cuff providing some sparkle at the top. I added a small holly detail, a button embellishment and red ribbon to finish it off.

For the background I chose a dark snowflake patterned background from the A Stitched Season DSP. The contrast between the red stocking and the Secret Sea DSP really helps the stocking stand out, while the snowflakes give us plenty of Christmas detail without needing any extra stamping.

A narrow silver layer around the DSP adds just enough shine and also helps separate the patterned paper from the Secret Sea card base.

For the sentiment, I kept it on a simple white strip across the stocking so it remains easy to read against the busier background.
