Christmas Tag Card

Hi friends!

For the second card in this week’s Merriest Tags Online Class to Go, I’ve used another of the large tag designs, this time making it look like a tag that could have come straight from a Christmas present.

There’s quite a lot of pattern happening on this card, but keeping the colours consistent helps everything work together. The Peaceful Pine DSP background on the left sits alongside a selection of Christmas patterns on the right, including Christmas trees, dots and presents. I also added a Cherry Cobbler border, die cut using the Bordered in Beauty dies, in between the two different DSP designs.

The large white tag sits across the two sections and gives the card a strong focal point. I stamped the Merry Christmas greeting towards the top, then added the holly images along the bottom. Keeping plenty of white space between the two stops the tag from becoming too busy.

I added ribbon and baker’s twine through the top of the tag, with the bow helping to reinforce the gift tag idea. The holly provides just enough extra colour while still tying back to the reds and greens used throughout the rest of the card.

This is also a useful layout if you have smaller pieces of Designer Series Paper sitting in your stash. Combining several designs is a good way to use them without needing a full card-front-sized piece of any one pattern.

A few sparkly embellishments finish the card without adding too much more to an already detailed background.
