Merriest Tags Christmas Card

Hi friends

This week’s Online Class to Go features the Merriest Tags Bundle, and I’m starting with a fairly traditional Christmas card using plenty of red and green.

The large tag makes a great focal point for a card, rather than being limited to something you attach to a gift. For this project, I’ve used the circular section for the Joyful Greetings sentiment, with the stamped foliage around the bottom adding some extra detail without needing lots of separate pieces.

I kept the background quite busy with two different patterns. The holly paper on the lower section works particularly well with the greenery in the stamped image, while the embossed and slightly sanded Real Red section at the top adds texture and continues the traditional Christmas colour scheme.

The tag is layered over two smaller Real Red die cut tags, helping the white centre stand out from the patterned background. I added ribbon and baker’s twine through the top so it still has the look of a Christmas gift tag, even though it’s being used as the main feature of the card.

A little colour on the foliage and berries, plus some sparkle and a few embellishments, finish everything off.

I like finding ways to use tags on cards as they make putting together a focal point really easy. You can change the papers and colours and end up with a completely different look without having to rethink the whole layout.
