Stamping With Friends Blog Hop – July-Dec Mini & Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek

Hello Stampin’ Friends!

Welcome to the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop! This is my very first blog hop (but hopefully not the last!!) and the theme for this edition is July-December 2021 Mini Catalogue Sneak Peeks.

The July-December Mini Catalogue is one of my favourites as I love all the Christmas images (and Halloween… although Halloween isn’t really a “thing” in Australia (although it is starting to grow in some areas), I still love all the images associated with Halloween).

In the end, I created three cards for this blog hop and as well as a sneak peek into the Mini Catalogue, you also get a sneak peek into the Sale-A-Bration offering.  Yes, in case you hadn’t heard, Sale-A-Bration is now running twice a year!  How awesome is that!

I’ve chosen coordinating products from the Mini and the SAB and couldn’t go past the Penguin Place bundle (stamp set and punch) from the catalogue plus the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper from the SAB brochure.

The DSP is fantastic as you’ve got both papers that can be used for backgrounds and matting, as well as heaps of images that can be cut out. For these cards, I’ve used a combination of stamped images as well as fussy cut images from the papers.

All three cards have the same basic components – a standard (metric) card base (21cm x 14.8cm, scored at 10.5cm on the long edge) in Fresh Freesia (from the new 2021-23 In Colours), a Misty Moonlight layer (13.8cm x 9.5cm),  a 13.3cm x 9cm piece of DSP and some scrap pieces of Basic White and Misty Moonlight.

To stamp the hills image, I used Balmy Blue, stamping off first, so it wouldn’t be too dark. First I stamped the full image, then a partial image to meet up with the first image. Then I trimmed the piece to the desired size and attached to the DSP piece.  The sentiment was stamped in Misty Moonlight on Basic White and matted onto Misty Moonlight cardstock.

The hats (beanies) in the first two cards were stamped in Polished Pink and fussy cut and both the nose and feet on the penguin in the final card (below) were stamped in Calypso Coral.  The jewels are the 2021-23 In Colour Jewels (love these… just wish the pack was bigger! Oh well, just have to buy more!)

Both the Penguin Place bundle (stamp set and punch) and the Penguin Playmates DSP will be available from the 3rd of August. This is a truly versatile set – although I’ve used it to create three Christmas cards, you can create cards for any occasion and the stamp set includes a variety of different sentiments.
