Woodland Wishes | Embossed Christmas Card

Hi friends!

Today I’m sharing the first project from this week’s Online Class to Go, featuring the Woodland Wishes stamp set. This set has lots of cute woodland animals and small coordinating images, making it a fun option for Christmas cards that are a little different from the usual festive designs.

For this card I wanted the large group of animals to be the main feature, but wanted to provide an option for those who don’t want to colour all the images.  The main image is heat embossed in silver, which really helps all those little details stand out against the Cherry Cobbler cardstock. There is quite a lot happening in this image, so heat embossing is an easy way to add detail without having to colour everything individually.

I added plenty of texture to the background with an embossed snowflake design. I used two-tone cardstock so the snowflakes could be lightly sanded so the white core of the cardstock can show through.

The Cherry Cobbler & White Striped Grosgrain Ribbon runs behind the centre panel, breaking up the background and adding another layer of texture.

The sentiment is also heat embossed in silver and kept fairly simple so it doesn’t compete with the main image.

This is a good project if you enjoy heat embossing, or if you haven’t tried it very often and want to see how much difference it can make to a stamped image.
