Neutral Noel Suite

Hi friends!

For the second of this week’s Neutral Noel Suite projects, I’ve created a warm little Christmas cabin tucked amongst the pine trees.

While the first card had a lighter snowy-village feel, this one uses much deeper neutral colours to create a completely different look from the same suite.

The focal point is the little house, which I’ve layered over a snowy foreground with tall pine trees behind it. I stamped additional trees directly onto the Pecan Pie background before adding the die-cut trees in front. That simple bit of layering creates much more depth than you might expect – it looks as though the forest continues well beyond the house.I love mixing stamped and die-cut elements when creating scenes like this.

The darker stamped trees sit quietly in the background, while the green trees in the foreground are much more prominent. The little house then overlaps those layers to create the main focal point.

And naturally, a woodland Christmas scene needed a deer! The small deer beside the house is only a tiny part of the finished design, but I think it adds a lot to the scene.

Although the colours on this card are predominantly earthy and neutral, I wanted to bring in some warmth and Christmas sparkle. The metallic border around the main panel does just that. I also added a small gold foil star to the house and added a few coordinating embellishments across the sky.

The “from our home to yours” sentiment was perfect for this card and ties in beautifully with the little Christmas house.  A strip of textured ribbon behind the sentiment provides one final detail without taking attention away from the scene.  The result is a rustic handmade Christmas card that feels quite different from the usual bright red-and-green Christmas designs.

This is the second of my three Neutral Noel Suite projects for this week’s Online Class to Go (19 – 24 October 2026) Check out the replay if you’d like to see how I built the different layers to create the forest scene.
