Pretty Poinsettia Christmas Card

Hi friends!

This week’s Online Class to Go features the Pretty Poinsettia Bundle, and I’m starting with a Christmas card that puts the poinsettias right across the centre of the design.  The dies in this bundle are Impressions Dies, which adds extra texture to the die cuts

I’ve used three stamped poinsettias for the main focal point, arranging them in a row and tucking plenty of die cut leaves behind them. I used some scraps of DSP for the leaves, to add some additional interest to the leaves.   I like the way the greenery fills the space without needing to add lots of other elements to the card.

The Shimmering Stripes Specialty DSP adds plenty of texture and sparkle to the background, but without overpowering the design.  The addition of the yellow Array of Dots gems to the flower centres helps to break up all that red, while the scattered red embellishments from the Delightful Decorative Dots add just a little more colour around the card.

The Merry Christmas sentiment is kept quite simple and sits below the flowers. I layered it onto another scrap piece of DSP to tie it back to all the foliage above.

There’s nothing particularly complicated about the layout, but there are plenty of options for changing it up. You could use fewer poinsettias for a quicker version, change the background, or add more layers if you wanted to step it up.
